About this course
Most commercial tiki mugs are made by slip-casting with a mold. But in this class, you will create an entirely unique tiki mug using essential hand-building techniques. Make a pinch pot, coil vessel, or slab-based mug. Enhance your creation with sculpted embellishments, sprig molds, pattern rollers, and natural objects for texture like lava rock and coral. Don't want to make a tiki mug? Make any kind of cup, coaster, bowl, or bud vase. Hand-building techniques can be used to create just about anything! Class fee includes all tools and equipment, and one pound of clay. Your favorite single piece will be fired and glazed for pickup within 3 weeks. Additional pieces may be fired for a fee. This class is intended for ages 18+. Ages 14-17 are welcome if parent and teen both register for the class. Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothing you don't mind getting clay and/or glaze on.
